Vietnam athletics team close to gold medal target at SEA Games 31

Athletics competitions continued on May 17 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi. Vietnam athletics continued the winning streak when sprinter Quach Thi Lan set a record of 56:32 in the women's 400m hurdles at SEA Games 31. In the women's heptathlon, Athlete Nguyen Linh Na earned another gold with a score of 5,415 points, breaking the national record (old record was 5,350 points). Runner Nguyen Van Lai was the focus of attention on the fourth day of athletics competitions at SEA Games 31 after winning the men's 10,000m - his second gold medal at this Games. He was the first to cross the finishing line in a time of 32:17:34. With Lai’s triumph, the Vietnamese athletics team won 16 gold medals at SEA Games 31, almost reaching the target of 15-17 gold medals set before the Games. VNA Photo
