With a target of at least 3 golds in the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), 24 fencers of the Vietnamese team are speeding up their training in preparation for the region’s biggest sports event. Once being considered as the “gold mine” of Vietnamese sports, fencing used to bring home 8 out of 12 golds from the 2015 SEA Games. However, after these “glory days”, Vietnamese fencing could not maintain the desired performance, collecting only 3/6 and 4/12 golds at the 2017 and 2019 Games, respectively. At SEA Games 31, Vietnamese fencers will compete in 12 categories, including six for teams and six for individuals, at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Arena (Hanoi) from May 13 to 18. VNA Photo
